SOLAR PANELS AND LINKED SYSTEM IN THE HEART OF THE YORKSHIRE DALES
A new generation of Solar Panels are at the forefront of an environmentally conscious re-development near Kilnsey Crag in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
When Tess & Kevin started work on their new home in the Dales, they wanted to limit their environmental & visual impact,
but also wanted a properly functioning family home.
Working with Bruce and Fiona at Ashburn Heating, a multi energy system linking Biomass from a Log Boiler with Solar Thermal from the latest flush fitting
Solar Panels which provide hot water directly in to the property. With the option to add further energy sources in the future, this system stores energy as heat;
available on-demand when required.
The addition of either a Ground Source or Air Source Heat Pump would be another future possibility.
We have a lot of experience fitting Renewable Heating Systems in all sorts of places.
This can involve using ‘Heat-Main’ to move hot water from one place to another without loosing any significant heat

One of our current projects involves installing underfloor heating to a new barn conversion.
Once the builders have installed the Kingspan insulation and a membrane, we lay a continuous circuit of pipework which will then be covered in concrete.
This labyrinth of pipework all leads back to a control mainifold where the flow can be balanced throughout the house.
In this property the system will then be linked to an Air Source Heat Pump located outside. Air source heat pumps extract latent energy from the air and convert this energy into heat. An alternative would a a Ground Source Heat Pump, extracting heat from the surrounding land.

ASHBURN HAVE FITTED YET ANOTHER VERNER 13.10 BOILER STOVE & HEATING SYSTEM
Ideally placed in a ‘living kitchen’ area, the 13.10 will provide background heat to the room, while producing a consistent supply of hot water and heating to the rest of the house.
The Heat Store is placed in the garage and has more than enough capacity to meet the household needs. with the facility to add solar thermal or heat pump options in the future if required.
Now it just needs the builder and decorator to catch up and finish off the surrounding work………….. smashing.
BRITANNIA WILLIS OF SKIPTON
This Biomass heating installation is at Britannia Willis of Skipton.
Britannia Willis have provided furniture removals and storage since 1929 and are committed to a high standard of storage facilities; including reliable and cost effective heating and humidity control for specialist piano storage.
The installation includes a Verner 25Kw boiler a 5 ton Ponast pellet silo with external loading via a blown pellet tanker and stainless steel flue.
OUR TRAINING CENTRE
This KP62S is fitted to Ashburn’s very own Ponast training centre in Earby, Lancashire. We feel it crucial to give our partner installers the opportunity to get their hands dirty on a real working boiler so much so that in our joining instructions we advise work clothes be worn when attending. This boiler, along with several other Ponast and Verner boilers, feeds into a large accumulator tank which provides heating and hot water to our offices, warehouse, workshop and training facility. There really is no better way to fully appreciate and understand the products we sell than to strip and rebuild them on a regular basis.
CHESHIRE DESIGN CENTRE
When the Cheshire Design Centre in Congleton asked us about how they could heat their warehouse, offices and showroom we had no hesitation in recommending the Verner A251 pellet and V210 gasification boilers. Not only do The Cheshire Design Centre offer Verner and Ponast biomass installations to their own customers and use these appliances as display models, but they can also claim non-domestic RHI for them. The boilers shown here are installed by Atmosphere Installations from Widnes who successfully completed the Verner and Ponast training course at Ashburn’s centre in Earby, Lancashire.
This Verner V140 supplied by Ashburn was fitted to an extremely remote property on the Gower Peninsular in Wales. It was fitted by our partner installer Steve from Greentech Heating based on the Gower Peninsular in Wales. Access proved challenging for this installation including delivery by a Luton Van as nothing bigger would fit up the track, however this paled into insignificance as a small mobile crane was needed to lift the boiler into the property! Both fantastic logistics and a superb installation.
This awesome Verner 13-10 wood burning boiler stove was fitted by an installer partner from Northern Ireland Eco energy Technologies of Limavady. The Northern Irelands RHI includes these types of boiler stoves and sales over there are quite brisk. These stoves can be connected to a heat store to conserve energy for use when the stove has extinguished however this example is fitted to a more traditional gravity circulation system.
MOBILE TRAINING FACILITY
Installed into Ashburn’s mobile training and display trailer are Ponast KP08S, KP22 and Verner V210 boilers. This fantastic facility allows us to travel the length and breadth of the UK giving sales support to our local installer partners at regional agricultural shows and game fairs. It also allows us to take our training courses to installer partners at their place of work rather than them having the expense of sending their workforce to us.
FOREST OF BOWLAND
This Verner A501 was fitted to a very remote property on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Bowland by our partner installer Phil from Ribble Valley Renewables who successfully completed the Verner training course at Ashburn’s Ponast and Verner training centre in Earby, Lancashire. The Property is a quite large rambling collection of traditional farmhouse, converted barns and outbuildings. The boiler is fitted into the outbuilding along with a 1000 litre accumulator feeding quite simply into the existing heating and hot water systems. A very good example of a retro-fit system with minimal disruption to the house.
THE GEORGE AT HUBBERHOLME
This KP62S was fitted to The George at Hubberholme, a most traditional and historical country Inn situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. A complex installation, making full use of the potential of the Line 3 range of boilers, designed by Ashburnand installed by our local partner installer Gary from http://www.skiptonstovesandranges.co.uk/ three mixed heating circuits and two hot water circuits. Gary has successfully completed a comprehensive Ponast training course at Ashburn’s Ponast and Verner training centre in Earby, Lancashire. This installation has resulted in this most atmospheric Inn and accommodation having a fantastic ambiance only a system such as this can provide.
THE YORKSHIRE DALES
This Verner A251 is fitted to a medium sized domestic house in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park near Settle. Ashburn’s very own training manager Bruce fitted this boiler by way of keeping his hand in with installation work. Not that he is likely to forget as before his current role here he ran a successful installation company undertaking the installation, service and repair of these appliances from the age of 18. The boiler is fitted in a detached building which feeds heat via an underground heat main into a small heat store in the house. The customer has never had such warmth and volumes of hot water before!
BIOMASS BOILER INSTALLATION-CASE STUDY CASWELL

The customer is now benefiting from a fully functioning biomass heating and hot water system.They will also receive money from the Government’s Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) and will continue to receive these payments quarterly for the next 7 years. This money will cover the cost of the install and also provide them with a profit.
